There are no other dinghy davits that compare!. 2. Hurley Marine is the original designer of the Trim Tab Lights and has that patented design. Prior to the Trim Tab Lights, manufacturers and the consumer only had Thru Hull Lights which required large holes below the waterline and boasted that the lamp could be replaced from inside the boat. Muskrat Guards . . . Prevent the Unthinkable!

By |December 11th, 2013|Categories: Tips & Techniques|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |0 Comments

Muskrat Guards . . . Hurley Muskrat Guards are 316 stainless steel, adjustable, and install inside the exhaust ports. Any boat that has a wet exhaust with a discharge opening of about three inches or larger is at risk. A Muskrat, Water Rat, Otter or other vermins can and will swim up the exhaust to chew through a coupling hose to the inside of the boat or make a den. That also includes boats with underwater exhausts as these rodents & vermins usually look for underwater entrances leading upwards to hollowed out chambers. This is how many boats sink, even while tied to the dock. This Exhaust Guard is also known as an Exhaust Mixer for when backing down on fish to mix the exhaust with water to keep the fumes from entering the cockpit or to just minimize the diesel soot on the stern of your boat. Did you know:  Marine insurance policies exclude damage [...]

Bunk Rollers and Davit Systems

By |December 10th, 2013|Categories: Tips & Techniques|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |Comments Off on Bunk Rollers and Davit Systems

Why we don't use bunk rollers on our davit systems Davit Systems & Bunk Roller . . .  Many of our competitors that have chosen to copy our design and have included bunk rollers.  Right off the bat when we first designed this system we opted out of that idea. The reason being is that it's like a roller bunk on a boat trailer opposed to a regular bunk system and only gives you small tiny contact points to the hull. With a regular bunk system you get more surface area contact allowing for a very stable and secure ride.  In addition, with our side loading systems, you can retrieve from either the front or side of the davit.  The roller system only allows one way of retrieval and has a very small foot-print for each roller for contact and the chines of a hard bottom dinghy often get hung up on the large rollers. By |December 7th, 2013|Categories: Product News, Tips & Techniques|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , |Comments Off on Properly Measuring for the Davit Mount Size

Key Dimensions to Determine Davit Mount Size Davit Mount Size - For use with the Hurley Traditional and H2O davits . . .  A = Swim platforms internal width B = Platforms depth (transom to edge) C = Distance from top of platform to the water D = Beam of dinghy   To determine which mount system will work best for you, measure the beam of your dinghy, divide by 2 and add 4 inches.  Now measure your platform (transom to the end). You must add a number below to your platform length figure in order to determine which mount to use. Example: If your dinghy width is 60" then divide by 2 + 4" = 34".  Swim platform is 32".  By adding 2" to the platform this would make it equal to the dinghy width of 34" so then you would have chosen the 6" mount. 0"- 2" for the 6" Mount 2"- 4" [...]
